CHAPEL RECAP: APRIL 14, 2023

On a gorgeous April day, we kicked off our 2023 Chapel season at Hycroft Manor.

7 lovely couples chose to tie the knot on April 14th at the Edwardian mansion in the Shaughnessy neighbourhood of Vancouver. Known for legendary parties and masquerade balls, Hycroft Manor has been always been a fitting place for Pop-Up Chapel couples to celebrate one of their most memorable days. This venue has been beautifully preserved and restored for more than 100 years, along with the regal and expansive gardens that make for the most beautiful couples portraits.

Although the Hycroft interior is hard to compete with, Ecorce Flowers certainly stole the show, adorning the venue with light and bright spring colours and overgrown arrangements to give a wildflower meadow inspired feeling. The bouquets and boutonnieres were individually created for each couple with seasonal blooms and personal inspiration. Wednesday Wedding Co., our Vancouver partners, were inspired by the season, creating springy and cheerful decor, including oversized flowers, pastel pink couches and DIY signage that incorporated pressed florals.

The talented Wesley Attew, set the mood for each ceremony with his vocals and guitar, as he played his own rendition of the couples choice of processional song to make for a very special stroll down the aisle.

Young, Hip & Married officiated each couple with a ceremony created to suit their unique history together, and emphasize the beauty of the moment. The YHM team always adds a modern element to their ceremonies to perfectly compliment the inventive nature of the Pop-Up Chapel.

Once they were introduced as a married couple, we celebrated the moment by toasting the BC made, Backyard Wines Sparkling Reserve. Guests also sipped on Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the local vineyard, as well as chilled Steam Whistle Pilsners.

Each couple enjoyed delightful cupcakes or cutting cakes brought to us by Le Gateau Bake Shop - only the sweetest for our couples! Throughout the cocktail hour, guests enjoyed light bites in the form of charcuterie and sweet treats, made by our hosts at Hycroft.

Countless special moments were captured by a trusted and gifted team of photographers made up of Rae Connell and So Wedding Co. Some of our favourite days of the season comes when we receive Chapel photos to be reminded of those unforgettable days - and we know our couples would say the same!

This Chapel benefitted the Trust Fund for Education, established by the University Women’s Club of Vancouver. Trust Fund for Education funds scholarships, bursaries and endowments through nine accredited post-secondary public education institutions in Vancouver. They aim to level the playing field for local marginalized students looking to pursue further education in the area.
