TELL US ABOUT THE HISTORY OF HYCROFT MANOR & HOW IT BECAME A VENUE.

Hycroft was built by the McRae family and completed in 1911. It is currently owned by the University Women’s Club of Vancouver, who maintain the house and gardens after purchasing it in the 1960s, It acts as the clubhouse for our 400 members. Hycroft has been a venue for 60 years – due to the natural beauty of the space and European style architecture it offers a setting that is unique in Vancouver.

WHAT MAKES HYCROFT MANOR UNIQUE AS A VENUE?

The gorgeous gardens (planned and maintained by UWCV members), the central location with mountain views, and the beauty of the house itself create a stunning atmosphere for our members and guests to enjoy.

WHAT DREW YOU TO WANT TO HOST THE POP-UP CHAPEL AT HYCROFT MANOR?

The support for charities that The Pop-Up Chapel Co. offers through all of it’s events.

IF YOU COULD DESIGN A CHAPEL, HOW WOULD IT LOOK?

We love when the designs play off of the European style architecture of the space, so if we could design a Chapel we would definitely lean into a romantic renaissance look and feel utilizing the beautiful furniture in the space.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO FOR THE 2023 CHAPEL SEASON?

We are looking forward to sharing Hycroft Manor with couples and their guests for such a special day, as well as seeing the beautiful designs come to life in our space.

TELL US ABOUT HOW HYCROFT MANOR SHARES OUR VALUES: SIMPLICITY, INCLUSIVITY, SUSTAINABILITY & SOCIAL CONSCIOUSNESS?

When the Chapels are held at Hycroft Manor, the charitable partner is the Trust Fund for Education which helps those who are marginalized gain a voice and equal standing through further education. The Trustees value all diversity including race, gender, cultural background and areas of endeavour.
