CHAPEL RECAP: JUNE 22 & 23, 2023

Nothing like a June wedding! Our first 2-day Chapel of the 2023 season saw nine couples enter into wedded bliss at the waterfront Henley Room.

The view from The Henley Room is guaranteed to drop jaws, especially on a beautiful sunny day. For this Chapel, our team reflected the view of bright skies, and Lake Ontario with calming decor - something BLUE if you will. The use of Portuguese tile stencils added some sweet detail to the ceremony backdrop. As well, this gave the arches and pillars a brand new look, allowing us to repurpose previous backdrops, while keeping the Chapel totally unique. The tiled effect was applied to the bar and lounge, to tie each element of the room together.

Make Lemonade provided the florals that brought our concept to life, with deep green and bright orange florals, which positively popped against the soft blue and peach pastels. May Flowers brought the couples visions to life providing the personalized bouquets and boutonnières.

At this Chapel, we had the exciting experience of marrying a couple who had recently come to us for an engagement shoot! Sarah + Rachit did a stunning session with us in Hamilton - take a look at the photos here! Needless to say, seeing them tie the knot made us all a little giddy.

We had three fantastic officiants across the 2-day Chapel. Leonard Nolasco carried the first day, while Kim Adeney and Jonny Belinko lead the ceremonies on the second. Each officiant brought their signature qualities to make the vows feel as unique as the couples themselves. In the moments between the officiant’s words, we had The Toronto Jazz Collective setting the mood with romantic melodies.

Once the couples said β€œI Do” and sealed their vows with a kiss, the party began, starting with Fresh Wines for the happy couple upon their recessional. Guests got their drink on as well with Shiny Apple Cider, Steam Whistle and Gruvi non-alcoholic sparkling.

What’s a party with out some food though? Couples, friends, and family enjoyed the tasty Purplesful Popcorn, and Courage Cookies - neither of which last long at the Chapel! Olivia Yang Cake Studio provided cutting cakes, artfully designed to match the tile details of the Chapel decor.

Four photographers were needed to document the special moments for all 9 couples. Frances Rose West, Rita Kravchuk Photography, Willow + Birch, and Alicia Thurston Photography each gave a few couples the gift of beautiful lasting memories of their wedding day. Something they’ll always be grateful for!

By participating in this Chapel, 9 couples contributed an incredible $2700 to the Argonaut Rowing Club Diversity and Inclusion Fund. The volunteer-run Argonaut Rowing Club relies on donations like these to provide access to affordable sports for all.

Like the look of the Henley Room and want to get married on the waterfront? The Pop-Up Chapel will be back at Henley on June 21, August 23, and October 18 in 2024.
