CHAPEL RECAP: NOVEMBER 11, 2022

For our very last 2022 Chapel, we partnered with Loft Community Services to donate a total of $2400. We had 8 beautiful couples help us end our 2022 season in the best way possible, surrounded by love and helping our local community! We love being able to create a safe and inclusive space for all our couples to get married, and we love being able to support the team at LOFT while they create a safe space for the community in Toronto. Loft Community Services promotes recovery and independence for people with complex challenges, including mental health difficulties, substance use issues, physical health challenges and homelessness. LOFT stands for Leap of Faith Together and they create unique programs and services to reach out to these individuals and respond to their unmet needs. Their goal is to help at-risk individuals to live independently at home with the help of their services or by providing a safe space to stay with their team!

As always, we absolutely LOVED working at The Argonaut Rowing Club (also known as The Henley Room) with their amazing team. The Henley Room space, with stunning views of the city and lake, is just full of possibilities and flexibility. This time, the chapel team was inspired by fall colours, so naturally we started this beautiful fall chapel day by adorning the space with rich wood accents and moody jewel tone florals. Using the fireplace as a base, and artistic prints supplied to us by our partner Desenio, we created an inviting backdrop for each of the impending nuptials. The rich colours of the florals, created by Make Lemonade, complimented the brown and red tones in the natural rocks of the fireplace, while the candles created a cozy warm glow. Each of our couples gleamed at their guests, while saying ‘I do,’ in this elevated and rustic take on this hidden gem venue in Toronto.

Right off the bat with our first couple Ilyssa and Nathaniel, lead through ceremony by the ever amazing Leonard Nolasco, we knew that the November 11th chapel was going to be a special one. Our team could not help but feel the warmth, love, and passion conjured in the space by the interactions between the couples and their guests. Each of the couple’s smiles throughout the day helped combat the overcast and rainy weather (which made for some gorgeous lighting for pictures!). While family and friends embraced and said their words of ‘congratulations’, our vendors absolutely killed it, maintaining the ambience throughout every sip and sound. Thank you to Courage Cookies and Purplesful (for keeping bellies full), to Steamwhistle, Fresh Wines and Viveau (for keeping mouths happy) and to The Toronto Jazz Collective (for setting the musical mood).

While guests and family posed for pictures with our photographers The Organic Moment and Alicia Thurston, our couples were also able to take advantage of some of their a-la-carte add-on choices. Many of our couples enjoyed feeding each other a slice of cake painted orange by Olivia Yang Cake Studio, while others said ‘cheers’ to their far-away family via live streaming. It is so amazing that we are able to celebrate every special moment in our lives from so far away and this would not be possible without Varey Sound!

While this was an absolutely incredible day, where we celebrated such diverse forms of love and union, we are so eager to see what experiences we will have this year in 2023. We are so excited to continue on this adventure with all of our couples, future couples, supporters and partners. See you soon!
